“Queen of Heaven.” “Holy Virgin of Virgins.” “Our Lady of Grace.” These are just some of the titles used to describe the Virgin Mary. But “Saturday Night Live” wants us to remember another one of Mary’s titles: “Mom.”
In “The Nativity,” host Emma Stone plays new mom Mary in all her postpartum angst. The funny sketch imagines how an exhausted new mother forced to give birth in a barn would react to having so many uninvited visitors bearing gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh instead of diapers, blankets and a crib.
“Everybody is looking at me!” Mary exclaims. “And I feel puffy. And I feel gross!”
Preach, postpartum Mary.
